Board Operations and Academics Committee
The School Operations and Academics Committee is responsible for ensuring that students at City Garden receive
the best overall education possible and for ensuring that high-quality delivery of all programs. The Committee will
comply with Board, Charter, and state-mandated operating policies and procedures, including compliance with the
Missouri Sunshine Law. The work of the committee shall revolve around the following major areas:
1. CGMCS Mission
-- Ensure that all programming, operating and academic policies and procedures reflect the mission of the school..
-- Monitory evaluate the programming and development of CGMCS, and make recommendations as needed to revise the school plan in order to more fully implement the mission.
2. Academics/ Curriculum
-- Ensure that CGMCS is delivering a high-quality, authentic, Montessori education
-- Ensure that the CGMCS curriculum is aligned with Missouri state standards.
3. Programming
-- Ensure high-quality delivery of services and programming CGMCS.
-- Identifying non-academic needs and implementation of non-academic and supplementary programs as needed.
4. Assessment
-- Recommend annual school-wide goals, setting forth the annual Accountability Plan, by which the school measures its progress in all areas.
-- Ensure compliance with and monitoring of performance on the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test and other standardized tests.
-- Monitor Adequate Yearly Progress and Compliance with No Child Left Behind
5. Attendance
-- Monitor the average daily attendance of CGMCS students.
6. Special Education
-- Ensure compliance with all special education requirements and ensure excellence in the delivery of special education services.
7. Federal Programs
-- Recommend an annual school-wide Title Plan, that reflects the school’s goals to meet the needs of CGMCS’ most at-risk children.
8. Academic and Operational Compliance
-- Ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations regarding academics, enrollment, health, safety and other issues. (I.e., immunizations, medical administration, regulations regarding age and enrollment, grade level advancement, etc.)
9. Recruitment and Admissions
-- Recommend an annual recruitment and admissions plan, aligning with CGMCS’ growth model and mission as a diverse neighborhood charter school.
10. Communications
-- Oversee/ help support quality communication with parents.
11. School Policies
-- Recommend policy that will support the best practices of the school and effective operation.
12. Diversity and School Culture
-- Ensure that CGMCS actively cultivates and sustains its commitment to economic, racial and ethnic diversity among its student population.
-- Ensure that the curricula and programming of CGMCS reflect the school’s mission, commitment to diversity and unique school culture.
13. Professional Development
-- Recommend an annual school-wide professional development plan.
-- Ensure that staff are engaging in regular, high-quality professional development that contributes to the delivery of excellent programming.
14. School Calendar
-- Recommend an academic calendar for each school year.
15. Parent Involvement and Education
-- Support and promote engagement of and with parents in all aspects of programming at CGMCS.
