Jarel Loveless is the Managing Director of Development at Teach For America, serving as a fundraising consultant for more than 15 region development teams across the country. He has nearly 15 years in the industry, previously working at the Saint Louis Science Center, the Saint Louis Art Museum, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Before returning to his hometown of St. Louis and embarking upon his nonprofit career, Jarel worked as a reporter at the Fayetteville (N.C.) Observer. He covered many beats – ranging from extensive investigative reporting in Fort Bragg to covering the Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup run.
Jarel currently serves on the Board of Directors of Memory Care Home Solutions and the Advisory Council of Caring Solutions. Jarel has also served on Board of Directors for the St. Louis chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals; Events Chair, Connect With St. Louis Board of Directors; Development Committee member, KIPP St. Louis; Young Friends Board Member, Jazz St. Louis; and the Finance Committee, Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps Alumni Association.
Jarel currently lives in St. Louis, where he also doubles as a hockey player and a musician – playing the trumpet, guitar and violin. In 2017, Jarel was named the AFP St. Louis Young Professional of the Year. This honor is awarded to fundraisers who show exemplary work in raising funds, inspiring donors, managing campaigns, and giving back to the profession.
